About this blog

When I bought my 1600 back in 1985, it was cosmetically a mess but mechanically sound.  I had the body rebuilt twice,  added e21 Recaros, and much later (just last year) an esty carpet kit.  But the headliner, which has looked terrible since I bought it, has remained untouched.  But now, I am going to make the effort to replace it this summer!  I will try to post daily pictures and updates as I go!  This is what it looks like now, and pretty much has since i bought it.  Wish me luck (I'm going to need it!)

Headliner, Day 2 (with a nasty surprise)

I managed to get the whole headliner out of the 1600 today.  What took me the longest was getting the sunroof out first.  It's been about 35 years since I have had to work on the sunroof so it took me a little while to remember and figure out how it all went.  However, once free of the restraints of the sunroof, a big surprise!  Apparently a rodent had gotten up there at some point and made a big nasty nest.  It must have been several years ago, but still...yuck.  A lot of the foam was in really
