RGB Kentucky Ridge Run 2018

Drove 997.8 miles from Brunswick Maine to Jim Denker's in Kettering Ohio in 13 hours Thursday September 20th. Met up with my friend Dohn Roush at the US Air Force Museum in Dayton Ohio Friday, What an amazing collection of planes! Then Jim and I caravanned to a gas station to meet up with other Rivertown Gearbusters. After everyone showed up we were off to Sabbath Song Farm In Brooksville Kentucky. Jason Gipson set a brisk pace on the winding back roads which were an absolute delight to drive at speed. We arrived at Sabbath Song Farm at dusk and were greeted with a hot meal and shared stories of our adventures.

Saturday was the actual Ridge Run a 120+ mile counter clockwise loop of fantastically winding 55 mile an hour roads, spent most of the day in 3rd and 4th gear trying to keep up with Jason. It was challenging and fun driving Vern at 8/10ths, my tires were the real limiting factor. When it started raining, I pulled back considerably so I wouldn't have a 'moment' or close call with losing traction as I have been there done that.

Had such a great time with everyone, so wonderful to spend quality time with my Ohio, Indiana, Illinois  & Kentucky friends known as the Rivertown Gearbusters.

Great pictures! Guess you'll need an oil change before the next adventure in October.

Yup, scheduled for October first. Have a couple of things to take care of between now and The 02 Group drive.

Seems like a good time; great pics.

I think, next year, I am going to have to keep a watch for the Rivertown Gearbusters' activities. Absolutely nothing going on in TN, so a 5 hour drive north seems like a doddle after several long hour trips in the past to Vintage and to Mid-Am when I lived in San Antonio.

Consider yourself invited, Les! We have special plans for our tenth anniversary edition of the RGB's Fall Drive & GTG in 2019.

Will put it on the calendar when the date is finalized.

Hated to miss this year's festivities--haven't missed one in awhile but it conflicted with an already booked river cruise in Europe.  The Ridge Run is saways a great time--good food, companionship and Jason's fantastic back roads drives.

Count me in for next year--and if you haven't been to Mid America 02fest in Eureka Springs, put that one on your calendar too--last weekend in April.  I'm planning my usual caravan from Dayton and back, so if that's in your planned route, watch for the "official" caravan invite next Feb or March.

And that goes for Mr. Gerock as well!

Oops. Thanks Jim! Didn't write that to invite myself.  I'm trying to do more visiting now that I've liberated myself from a desk job.

Hopefully it doesn't fall on my son's birthday again (9/22)...that's been my limiting factor the past few years not attending the Fall Ridge Run.
