Introduction
Hi everyone!
My name is Jenna and I purchased my car on March 20th of 2020. I started to grow a fascination with cars and really wanted something to get my hands on to help me learn. I had been in search of a project for a couple of months when my one of my dad's friends mentioned a BMW he would be willing to sell that would be the perfect fit. At the time, I didn't know much about 2002's at all (and admittedly I still have a lot to learn), but it seemed like a wonderful opportunity. Me, my dad, and my older sister drove from Michigan to California with a trailer to pick up my new (old) car! I will remind you that this was March of 2020, so we were just hitting the beginning of the pandemic. If my memory is correct, they started to close the state borders on our way home. The trip was full of clorox wipes, granola bars, and online school. Totally worth it in y opinion. The car is in pretty great condition. I decided to strip it entirely down to get it media blasted, do some bodywork, get it painted, and then put it back together. Things haven't gone nearly as quickly as I had originally hoped, but I am taking it one step at a time and trying to enjoy every bit! There is a lot of work left to do. I am sure throughout my journey I will encounter many missed parts, extra parts, confusing puzzles, and frustrating situations. I hope to utilize this blog to document my progress, share with all of you, and ask for help!
I am young, I am relatively new to cars, and I am especially new to the 2002 community. Any tips, tricks, and all encouragement is welcome! I first want to thank Steve, who I purchased the car from. He is one of the most kind, genuine people I have ever met. He gave me a great deal, but more importantly he gave me a great opportunity. I can not wait for him to be able to see the finished product. I also want to thank my dad, who is a big BMW fan, a huge help in the mechanic department, and who is providing all of the necessary garage space and tools for such a big project. Lastly, I want to thank my boyfriend Wesley who has really helped ignite my passion for cars, who is my second huge help in the mechanic department, and who pushes me to learn and succeed every day. I could not do it without you guys!
Now for the part you really care about! The car! Hopefully I will be able to attach some photos here (for a young person, I am often challenged when it comes to technology). It is a 1976 2002 from California with the M42 engine and a 5 speed from a 1990 E30.
The car got media blasted last week and is getting epoxy primer on Tuesday.
I plan to make additions to this blog with updates and photos whenever I have them! Thanks for reading!
