This constant, relentless, unmitigated, 24/7 chronic pain has steadily reduced me to the tortured, contorted, writhing, twisting, scowling, swearing, angry, hair-triggered-screaming-fits of-rage-sleepless-holy-terror-bundle-of F'ing-joy to be round!

Waiting for Thoracic Spine MRI Scheduling.

Andrew, dear friend...

Been there, done that.   Years of doing labor, contorting, bending, lifting doing landscaping and restoring a 66 BMW 2000c among other cars, caught up with me and left me with daily hip and back pain, loss of sensation in right leg.  Of course also too much sitting, not exercising correctly, posture.  Hit me at age 54.  spondylolisthesis  Couldn't walk very far without doubling over in pain.   This went on for 5 years.   I hurt all the time, contemplated surgery or narcotics.  I was irritable and miserable to be around.  No fun for my wife, daughter, or friends.  Depression and despair sets in.   It owns you.  Medical doctors, several chiropractors, physical trainers, chain rehab office could not help me.

By all means work with your orthopedist MD for imagining (x-ray and MRI) and diagnosis.  There will most likely be compression, disc loss, stenosis, slippage, etc.    Doctors will deceive you to get you under the knife.  Don't do it without further study.

Stuart McGill is the best.  He wrote the best resource for back pain "the Back Mechanic".  I highly recommend you investigate it.

Better yet, find someone near you certified in his evaluation and treatment methods.  There is a practitioner in Boston (Ryan Hollien - see McGill's website).  That's what I did (with a clinician in Falls Church near me in DC).  I am back to normal.  I do have back issues, but what was REALLY causing my pain and suffering with the back was muscular imbalance in key muscle groups forcing my spine out of line to the point where I had the pain.  Now I  do the prescribed strength training and also walk 3 miles a day, am happy, and am careful how much labor I do.    I did give up the 2000c resto.  I do upkeep and maintenance on the 69 2002

So sorry to hear that. I’ve had two lower back surgeries for T3-T4 issues, now pain free and exercise regularly (swimming, biking, walking, no more running). If I may recommend:

- I ended up both times with a neurosurgeon, NOT an orthopedist. Neurosurgeons treat nerve issues…orthopedists treat bone issues. University med centers will usually have the best surgeons.

- Been told by multiple surgeons (and my son is one) DO NOT GET SURGERY FOR PAIN! Only for loss of function.
-Yoga is really good, just be very careful, work with a good teacher.

Best of luck, get better.

My 2 cents: I used to have major back problems. Never had surgery for it...it only resolved once I got myself in shape, and exercised regularly. I recently had a major accident on an electric scooter ...and I had been out of the gym for 3 weeks. My back pain started to come back. After week #1 of being back in the gym, the back pain promptly went away.

Andrew's Back Chronicles: Day 194

Have returned to Goddard & Gibbons my Osteopaths & learned I have 5 definite 'trigger' points on my left side where the injury persists. Abdomen, back, ankle, shoulder & neck.

Experts agree, anyway, enough of that.

Physical Terrorpy starts September 10th.

Thoracic MRI is 7 am, September 13th, Shedding light on my magnetically twisted, painful & humorous personality.😉

Looking ahead to stop my screaming Sam Kineson on fire  abominable abdominal back pain in my laxative abusing constipated ass!💊🪢😧💩🪨☢️👎🧟‍♀️⚠️🏁

I'm fine.

The real kick in the guts about all of this is I was very active until this that day Sunday in March

Let me know if you want to talk. Free RN experience and empathy. Back pain has got to be incredibly aggravating and depleting.

It will get better.  Entropy.  Getting older.  Your warranty and maintenance free body has expired.   Got to do  more frequent maintenance.
