Hey guys/gals what books do you reccomend?

I am starting a relationship with my second 2002 after about 14 years away from these wonderful boxes of joy. I am wondering what books anyone here would recommend to someone with moderate wrenching abilities....that are 2002 specific.

It is a '76 and yes it will be on the road before I finish pharmacy school.

Even though I already owned an original set of BMW shop manuals (binders), I recently purchased a reprint of the OEM 2002 repair shop manuals from Faxon Auto Literature on ebay ($99.00). For me, it's easier to page through than the original binders and was money well spent.

Mike McCartney's large (not thick) hardback on the 2002 and his smaller paperback. I think these are restoration guides, but they contain a LOT of good information and ideas. Get a Hayne's Manual on the 1602/2002 for the mechanical aspect of the marque.

Wow! thanks for all the prompt replies! This is great! Also does anyone recommend any of the digital resources? Are some of these books available on PDF? I have so many manuals and texts already from my VW addiction and from the organic chem masters and pharmacy program...I'm swimming in books right now.

Thank you again for all the help.

This is one example of a workshop manual CD. There are plenty of those on ebay. I like them, you just print what you need to take to the car:

THE FIRST ONE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT

and you could get by wih just this one:

00OWNERSHANDBOOKLAST.jpg

some of the 'generic' repair manuals are 'ok' but sometimes lack

great photos

02manual.jpg

BMW published 2-volume Parts Catalog -

the best! excellent coverage of EVERY o2 varient

and every widgit

then BMW published Parts Catalogon CD - might need a

'older' computer to run them - but excellent

and then BMW published the Repair Manual

on CD - also excellent but needs a 'older' computer

to run

some of the Owner's handbooks

and the important USA white supplements
