Just happened to notice a BUNCH of TR6's and Spitfires around DC priced really LOW. My first car back in 1982 was a 66 MG and my second was a 79 Spitfire. These prices are comparable to what these cars sold for back then. I paid $2,995 (thank you finance company!) for my MG and wised-up and paid $1,200 cash for my Spit. Lately the TR6 seems to be in the teens and low $20k's, but these look to be steals. Is this a market correction of some sort like when XKE's were going for 6-figures and then came back to earth?

MY FIRST CAR WAS A '72 TR6 .

I GOT IT FOR $2500 BACK IN 1977 AND IT WAS GORGEOUS .

I LEARNED TO DRIVE A STICK IN MY OWN CAR AND LEARNED TO FIX THINGS MYSELF .

IT WAS A GREAT ROLLING MECHANIC's SCHOOL .

I STILL MISS THAT ONE .

MY SECOND TRIUMPH WAS A 1973 STAG .

THESE WERE THE STRANGEST MIXTURE ON WONDERFUL AND HORRIBLE

EVER DEVISED BY MAN . IT HAD A BAD ENGINE ( NO SURPRISE THERE )

WHEN I GOT IT SO I INSTALLED THE DRIVETRAIN FROM A ROVER SD-1 .

IT GAINED 50 HORSEPOWER AND LOST 150 POUNDS IN THE CONVERSION TO THE ALUMINUM BLOCK ENGINE .

IT WENT FROM AN AUTOMATIC TO A 5 SPEED .

I ALSO DID AWAY WITH THE POWER STEERING . WITH THE LIGHTER WEIGHT ,

IT WASN'T REALLY NEEDED AND IT SHED AT LEAST ANOTHER 30 POUNDS !

IT WAS A BLAST TO DRIVE THAT CAR . I DID GET IT UP TO 125 mph ONCE & IT WANTED TO KEEP GOING !

WE SOLD THAT ONE TO FINANCE OUR FIRST TRIP TO BRAZIL .

( I HAD A PROMISE TO KEEP )

I ALSO HAD A '73 MG MIDGET , A '64 SUNBEAM TIGER AND A "51 SINGER 4-A ROADSTER .

THE SINGER IS THE ONLY BRIT THAT IS STILL IN THE STABLE ,

I STILL HAVE SOME WOODWORK TO DO ON THAT ONE .
