Welding in a floor patch. Tips needed. . .

Am I going to incur the wrath of the BMW gods if I go the 'cheap and cheerful' (overlapping patch) way ????

Not in the least. Just use primer, then a LOT of seam sealer afterwards,

and it'll last longer than the original did.

The primer gets into the small crevices that are inevitable and seals them

up, then the seam sealer seals the whole mess airtight.

Then paint over that protects the seam sealer.

And I agree- if YOU are happy with it, WE are done!

oh, PS, why I give up and just butt weld-

seems I blow holes through 2002 panels like crazy.

With a butt weld, it's just a controlled hole that you stop

half a second before it droops.

It's probably that my welder doesn't like

amping down far enough to get good penetration without

perforation...
