My first was a '69 1600..... polaris.... loved it... had that and a '69 TR6 and sold the bmw.... not one of my better decisions...lol

I talked with the owner. Really nice guy. It was resprayed dark blue from the original polaris (silver), which is probably the deal killer for me. I'm anal enough about stupid things that looking at a different colored engine bay would drive me nuts (even though my car's current paint is a shade or six off of factory - but it's at least closer).

125k miles, original drivetrain, resprayed 20 years ago. Only rust (he says) is around one of the rear wheel wells and some light rust below the paint in the rockers. Interior is tired (blue) but could be rehabbed. Mechanically, he says the brakes are a little soft, but he is going to bleed them (new calipers). No leaks, no smoke, good transmission.

The owner called me today to advise that the car was sold.

(I would love to hear the details - as this may be "the one that got away" for me...I had to cancel my Sat. appointment with the seller)

It was me!!! The brakes are being serviced now and will pick up tomorrow or next day. It is a very nice car for the midwest. Only thing is some rust around the rear jack points. VERY original.

Hope it will not be an eventfull trip home. It has hardly been driven since 1982! I am bringing a set of wheels/tires to put on as the existing are pretty bad.
