scholarly rectitude compels me to point out those rockets were High Velocity Aerial Rockets- HVAR's. sorry harv

it further compels comment on this photo-

while it may be shot in the north pacific, it is not a ww2 pic. among those aircraft on deck are ad-1 skyraiders, which did not get to squadrons until 1947. further, the national markings visible have the red horizontal stripe which started in 1947 also.

be careful and sketipcal on the internet. i've seen photo captions that say that hellcat pilot died of wounds.
