engine and drivetrain Help with Factory Rebuilt Engine ID/Specs

Hi Gals and Gents.

I recently sourced a used factory rebuilt engine and I wanted to get some thoughts on the configuration and document for FAQ reference what I found/have. I've heard about some older factory rebuilds having the VIN show as XXXXXX and the more recent examples have bar codes and DOT-R stickers. This one is from the mid 1990s I think. My plan is to install this engine in my 68 2002 and rebuild the tired engine at some point down the road. It has been in storage for ~8 years and came out of a 73 rear end/totaled restored car in New Jersey. Did this belong to anyone here?

--Block VIN/ID: 21 170 ZA 10 0 (78 cast on side of block, probably from a 320i, 2.0 litre originally)

--Head: E12 87 Cast Date

--Single Row Timing Chain

--Camshaft ID: 121061 0080 (what is it?)

--Valve Cover - Interesting Roundel treatment, cast 81-82

--Distributor Mount: 85-86 Cast Date

--Oil Pan: Different drain plug design than I've seen before?

Is it just me or does that drain plug seem highly ineffective. I know th engine is tilted a little when installed but not that much right?
