Is there a list of vins somewhere that I could check to

see if the car was originally cabrio build or chopped later

Any VIN that starts with 155 is a cabriolet. If the wing windows don't open also that means it was not a chop. Got any pics??

is one is in fact a factory cabrio and in fact is a pretty early one. VINs from 1550001-1553252 are RHD 1600s; apparently there were no VINs from 1553253 to 1556999, at least not according to my factory listing.

Another way to tell for sure is to check for the extra rocker panel interior bracing that makes the floor boards several inches narrower on the inside. Also, the true cabrios have a panel directly forward to the trunk lid, while most coversions don't.

Here is the alleged german registration, color is listed as gelb.

Long story short, I think it was a scam.
