weber 32/36 another question

wanted to finish this weekend- manifold installed etc.

should the new weber bolt right onto the manifold?

or am I missing some kind of plastic spacer/heat shield?

should be a thin fiber block with gaskets on both sides that the carb sits on

do not mount carb directly on to the manifold

carbs unlimited has a 7 mm thick spacer

Don't know if you're running a stock air cleaner housing, or not, but if you are you might be better off with Pierce Manifold's spacer which is 5.3 mm.

Clearance under the hood is an issue here.

i believe the purpose of the thinker spacer is to help keep the carb & fuel cool...you want to keep the fuel as cool as possible

For some reason, my Touring (which came with me from the uk) does not like the pheonolic (sp?) spacer. All my other '02s (US cars) do. Go figure.

i have ordered the spacer, but i am not sure what it's for.

i thought also, insulte the carb and keep the fuel cool.

related question: does the water jacket under the intake manifold

serve to keep it cool, or keep it warm?

yes, phenolic spacers are pretty much performance oriented. car will run without em, somtimes better somtimes worse. but it will run.

you can find some pretty fun info on the early nascar guys making spacers out of sheets of ply wood and putting them on the cars! aparently has a similar cooling effect as alluminum cuz all the tubes in the wood.
