you could just use/ make a paper gasket in a pinch. it works. keeps the metal apart.

i believe the purpose of the thinker spacer is to help keep the carb & fuel cool...you want to keep the fuel as cool as possible

For some reason, my Touring (which came with me from the uk) does not like the pheonolic (sp?) spacer. All my other '02s (US cars) do. Go figure.

yes, phenolic spacers are pretty much performance oriented. car will run without em, somtimes better somtimes worse. but it will run.

you can find some pretty fun info on the early nascar guys making spacers out of sheets of ply wood and putting them on the cars! aparently has a similar cooling effect as alluminum cuz all the tubes in the wood.
