"Motorists who own the flashy German built cars are more likely to tailgate, flick the finger and speed than anyone else on the road, a poll revealed.

More than half of all drivers said they had suffered a 'bad experience' at the hands of a BMW driver.

Much-maligned white van men came second in the poll, followed by Audi drivers and those who own Fords and Land Rovers.

Other motorists to make the top ten included Vauxhall drivers who were seventh. Drivers of Range Rovers, Volkswagen and Mercedes complete the top ten." . . .

And the main reason is that many of the Honda and Toyota drivers are more likely to:

Be driving well under the posted speed limit.

Ride their brakes ALL the way through the turn.

Drive for several miles with a turn signal blinking.

Make turns from the far opposite lane, usually without a signal.

Drive to the end of the freeway/expressway on-ramp and stop, waiting for an opening in traffic.

Etc...

I used to think it was that most of these econoboxes were "at their limit" even at lower speeds. We had a late 90's Camry at one of the Car Control Clinics. I was amazed that the car would actually corner and felt pretty stable in the slalom at speed. It confirmed that it was the drivers of these vehicles that were at 10/10ths, and not their cars.

They left out the SUV drivers!? What about the guys driving jacked-up super-duty trucks with balls dangling from the trailer hitch? At work, there is somebody in a dark blue Suburban that has nearly smashed into my car numerous times by driving very aggressively in a tightly-packed parking garage. (& I am coming off of a 12-hr. shift, so I am not 100% perky!)

Jim,

To slightly change the topic here; city of Rochester recently installed 4 camera's at various trouble "red light runner intersections"; when all and done, there will be up to 40 installed. A news crew was at one of the corners yesterday and captured a school bus running a red light., it was plain as day as well. The results will be those captured on camera will be sent tickets.

Minivans with an entire family inside seem to be the fastest around here. They speed and don't seem to have any regard for their family members (or those folks outside).

Note which lane this Chrysler van occupies during our trip to Bowie, MD yesterday morning. This was about 8:20am.
