There used to be a company called JAM Engineering who packaged Weber carb. kits for BMW's. Their kit included a neat (plastic/ABS?) adaptor that you installed on the bottom of the stock air cleaner. I've seen advertisements for their products in old Roundel Magazines. I'll try to find and scan a picture of the adaptor.

Some folks here just cut out the stock air cleaner and use a piece of metal/aluminum to match the Weber inlet.

Here are (2) old ads I found featuring the JAM Engineering Weber kits. It appears they didn't offer just the air cleaner adaptor (for obvious reasons).

The adaptor looks like a metal casting (not plastic).

Here are a couple pics that I took of a weber to stock 1974 2002 aircleaner adapter that I have. It matches up with the circular hole that the original aircleaner has, and is designed to work with the 32/36 weber. I'll sell it for 30 bucks.
