It looks so much like the "normal" BMW ads of the era that I don't doubt that many people did send in the inquiry.

That reminds me of an ad by BMW in the UKs Daily Telegraph back in the 80s.

It was offering a quick-change dashboard for the UK RHD drivers who frequently drove their car over to Europe. They could quickly switch to LHD. Very convincing ad indeed.

It was, however, April 1st.

Apparently BMW Dealers were swamped with calls for this latest inovation!

I was just thinking the same Les - had fold down pedals and you opened the glove box to swap the steering column over. There was a tradition of BMW UK doing these ads every April, not sure if they still do.
