Wives and cars

After I showed this video to my wife, she said:

1. Were you speeding? No dear. It sure looks like it.

2. Did you almost hit that guy? No dear, it just appears that way on the video.

3. Were you holding the camera with one hand and filming with the other? No dear. The IPhone was attached to its carrier on the front windshield.

She said nothing about the twists and turns and the thrill of the Drive.

At the end of the video, she just looked at me and said "hmph!"

After almost 26 years, I simply say "Yes Dear" and I go for another Drive.

She watched? I'm impressed....after 2 years my wife has been in the 2002 all of 2 minutes. 1 ride that went around the block.

My wife likes to ride in the '02. I learned early, if you want the wife to ride, car must be:

comfortable

reliable

clean

attractive

heated and air conditioned

easy to get in/out

and not blow her hair around

Fortunately I have other cars to mess up.

>>Spot on analysis for my wife also. Nice summary... they are probably both from the same stock.

Does she like them like I do?

No.

but she likes it that my messin' makes me happy.

and, when she humors me and looks at stuff (don't those new radiator hoses look great!) - it's nice too.

even though I know she really doesn't care.

In 5 years my wife hasn't been in the M2 even once. She's driven the M3 once since I've had it. She has no interest in my cars at all but doesn't mind if I do.

Hmmm, after reviewing this thread…

-I say yes dear a lot after 33 years.

-she will sit through race videos

-she will attend one race weekend a year, however boring she thinks racing is.

-she likes to ride in the 2002, with no a/c. (helps that I had a non-a/c 02 when we started dating)

-she humors me and looks at car stuff.

-she lets me spent inordinate amounts of time messing with cars.

-she has taken a track school and likes to drive my m3 sometimes.

-she spent a couple hours looking at the same rusty 02 that Jim and Susan did.

-she wants me to cut the roof off a purple 74 parts car i have and make her a vert!

Think I will keep her! or more correctly, i hope she keeps me!

Richard- It was my Shift knob. Every time I torque the tiny screws with the Allen wrench, the vibrations just loosen it up again.

I'm shopping for another one now.

'she decided she wanted an automatic with an A/C that works. But...she''s been to Ofests that were well over a thousand miles from home, including this year''s where the car came home on a tow dolly behind a U-haul. It really hurt when she said the truck was better to ride in than the 02...

Bless her heart, though; she supports my madness and keeps me from going off the deep end, even though she''s definitely not a car person...

cheers

it has been years since my wife (of 29 years) rode in my car, some of you may even wonder if she actually exist. She used to tolerate my hobby, until a couple nights ago, when I tried to explain (silly me) why it wouldn't make financial sense to sell my car, which led to a full disclosure of how much I have "invested" on this POS (her words) car! She was livid! I tried reasoning with her (knew it wouldn't work) that the solution was simple: wait 10 years and this car is going to be worth much more! The next morning I had to go for a drive - it really validated my fussy logic - but I gave up trying to make her understand!
