E36 4 door M3's with a 5 speed are rare, The E36 4 door was only produced two years (97-98) and the majority shipped to the US came with an automatic.

Here's a few..

Keep searching, lots of automatics out there if you want to do an auto to 5 speed conversion, see the one above in Indianapolis that's been converted.

When they get around 150K on them, the automatics will go south if not properly maintained. Owners get sticker shock when they find out the price of a rebuilt transmission for an M car and will want to dump the cars. It's much cheaper to convert to a 5 speed than rebuild the slushbox (and more fun to drive).

He's on his last year of college and used to own a M3 Coupe a couple of years back.

We think we have found a sedan with manual transmission that he wants.

Past 15 years or so, I've owned four E36 M3 and two E46 M3 plus many other BMWs, total of seventeen or so, but now just the sedan {in which my wife won't let me have the key to it} and the 02. I drive the Mini CS and the 02 on nice weather.

I see you have many collections of BMW yourself.

Enjoy.

I have had my M3/4 5spd since it was new. i ordered it as soon as bmw announced it would be imported to us. think i have one of the first us ones. 80k miles so far, best car i have ever owned and doubt i will ever part with it!

i have considered adding an m3/4 auto to the mix. awesome commuter car!

Even better (rarer?), Marshall's M3 4-door is Techno Violet.

I've had two M3/4 5 speed, driven my bro M3 coupe and had a convert auto. The best car for the money anywhere for what it can do!! This includes the e46 and e30 M3s (own a few of those too). But I have to wholeheartedly disagree about an e36 M3 auto. I think a reg e36 with a manual is a better car. The auto just sucks the M out of it. IMO of course.
