Sachs 215mm Clutch Kit

The throwout bearing should be right for a 5-speed conversion in a 2002 though, right?

Would there be any differences between the clutch/pressure plate on a 320i and a 2002 (i.e., is the flywheel different).

In the same boat myself... the E21 listing is way cheaper.

Yes, digging up old thread for same purpose, instead of making a new one.

The flywheel is the same, as far as the clutch is concerned.

The later flywheels MAY SOMETIMES use a hardened and ground plate to

provide the clamping surface for the flywheel bolts, whereas the 2002

has a thicker flange with visible hardening around the bolt holes. You need

to be careful to keep that plate in there if you use one of the later

flywheels. But again, the clutch doesn't care....

The other thing that >>might<< be different are the straps that hold the

plate to the cover- the later style are radial, whereas the 228mm covers

have circumferential straps. It only seems to matter above 5k, but the

radial straps have come apart on me, while the circumferential never do.

You should be fine to use any kit that claims to be for an E21.

I just bought the Sachs 215mm Clutch Kit Model: KF137-01 (KF13701).

My issue is that when I compare the new "clutch"  to the old one it is not as "tall" when compared to the old one - see picture.  The new "clutch" also has a different part # comparing to the old one.  The rest of the new parts matches the old parts (throwout bearing, Clutch cover) so no worries there.

Should i be worried that the new clutch is not tall than the old one?

Any insights is appreciated. Thanks

The clutch on the right side is the old one... as you can see the Center Splined Hub area is taller than the new one (left side)

If you are referring to the center splined hub being "taller," I wouldn't worry about anything.  It will work just fine.

Thanks for the reply. Correct. The center splined hub area is taller on the "old" clutch.
