73tii Correct Bumper Over-Rider

There are two front bumper over-riders listed for a 73 front bumper;

51 11 1 814 701/702 - smaller in form with rubber on front and top of the piece.

51 11 1 816 421/422 - larger in form with rubber on the front surface only.

Does anyone know the reason for the different parts? Which is correct or are they both correct with user preference?

I'm guessing there are (2) versions that were on the '73's (not sure);

I have the low, pointed version on my car

2 1/2 mph bumper setup for that year only...including heavier front brackets and the loop-style rear brackets that moved the bumper about 2" away from the body.

If you see the tall overriders on a US 73 front bumper, they're been replaced, or it isn't a 73.

Great response thanks. I have the front bumper "pointed version" and the heavier bumper brackets. Waiting for BMW to do a run of the loop-style supports for the rear bumper. Do you know anyone with an extra set of rear bumper supports?

Check with Dave Varco (Aardvark racing) for the rear bumper loop supports. I purchased a set from him a couple of years ago. Good luck,
