No, the holes need to be welded/filled. Similar front air dam, note the holes...

That's mounted a lot lower than the others in this thread...

This is a '72 roundie shell and the narrow slots for the bumper brackets were completely covered by the airdam. Also, the holes on the fenders for the bumper ends were covered. The car will be fitted with adjustable coil-overs and 15" wheels, so mounting it too low isn't advisable or necessary.

Except for the '74 turbo (and accompanying flares), airdams of any type are tricky to install in such a way as to make them look as if they belong on the front of an 02. Mount it too low and it gets cracked and/or broken easily. Too high renders it ineffective in diverting airflow from under the car.

This airdam has a kind of bumper-like ridge that must be horizontal to the ground. If it droops in the center, aside from looking odd, will crack as soon as it hits a parking curb or driveway. It can ruin your whole "dam" day.

:)

Position very nicely spotted Delia.

Maybe take some measurements from bottom of grills to top of dam for future reference for others.

Mounting is a relatively easy process.

Remove the center grill.

Begin in the middle -- approx. 3" below the peak in lower section of the kidney hole.

Attach with a single pop-rivet or screw.

Try putting a couple of clamps near the headlights and at the ends of the spoiler near the front edge of the front wheel opening. At the joint where the fender meets the front apron, the dimension from the grill opening should be the same (3") or slightly less (~2- 3/4") than at the center point. This is preferably done with the car up in the air or in a large enough place so you can see it from a distance. It needs a lot of "eyeballing" to determine what is level/square/perpendicular/badass. Take you time. Have a beer or two. Call your friends over. Tell them to bring more beer. Stand, stare, and emit flatulence.

After that burning question has been answered...

Drill the holes in order from side to side and work from the center to the front wheel opening. Attach with screws or pop rivets. Additional bracing is optional.

When you are through, step back, make some vroom-vroom noises and admire your work.
