Who here owns a first year 02: 66/67 1600-2 or 68 2002?

I wanted to create a thread to track members who own the earliest 02's of each model. I include 66 and 67 1600-2's because sales did not start until mid-1966 in Europe and only a handful of 66's came to the USA. I don't think there are many 68 2002's around anymore either and they would have sold in far less numbers the first year as opposed to 69+ cars that gained popularity. Please post your car model/year and location so we can see how they are distributed. Pictures and VIN's would be great too! Also note if your car is still on the road or not, heavily modified or a race car, or more or less stock. I'll start:

1 - 1967 1600-2, VIN#1517644, Stock, still on the road in Saratoga, CA (SF Bay Area)

I did - but it's gone. It was a 67 turf green 1600. I sold it to a guy in Georgia (the country) via ebay in like 2008. I'll post the vin if I can find it. I regret having to sell it - and would have kept it if I could but life demanded otherwise.

68 1600-2 #1560713 Originally purchased by grandfather in riverside, CA Chamonix/Black

Sounds like a very early 68 with 67 build date right? Do you have the small Roundel on the back next to the 1600 like a 67? Do you know if it had or still has the embossed hood trim in front? Does it have the chrome dash? The early 68's sometimes had a mash of 67/68 parts.

Bummer Patrick, I remember seeing it for sale on ebay. Rare color too.

Heres a noob question for ya: I own a 1600-2. Is that a 1600 or a 2002?

1600...the -2 is to denote the 2-door model. They also made a 1600 sedan then.

68 1602 w/SR Turf VIN 1564726

PO swapped the original black/gold CA plates for the vanity plate TADPOL, kind of a bummer, but i'm keeping the vanity plate cuz it seems right.

it was given to me minus the engine/tranny and interior. i have subsequently sourced a perfect early chrome dash for it and other missing items. the original clutch and rear end were updated prior, as well.

not driveable at present...

Thanks Jeff for starting this thread...

As many of you know I own more than my fair share of 66-67-early 68 1600-2s.

1508028 Oct 20th '66 build date. Bristol Grey with Black interior

http://s121.photobucket.com/albums/o236/tjones02_bucket/Grey/

1528923 June 15th '67 Sahara/brown

Parts car to be split between Grey and Red... Maybe.

1530962 July 4th '67 Granada/black Family owned since '88 and my first car. I recently got approval from CA DMV to reinstate the cars original black CA plates. I made myself and the car a promise that she would be put away for a restoration when that happened... and I will begin the resto/mod this summer.

1560847 Oct 9th '67 Manilla/brown Car was once owned by a local Bay Area Machinist Dave Cruise and will one day be back on the road.

More details another time....

My 1967 1600 is VIN 1521145

Originally Chamonix, but now it has a patina'd Verona finish. It's my DD (as much as one can be in the city).

VV2010107.jpg

As far as I could tell, I had the lowest 02 VIN at last year's V@V!

EDIT: Mine has a March 1967 build date.

Yup! It was mostly 67 with an amended 12V system. I have the small roundel. It originally had the chrome dash and steering wheel. Those we replaced a few decades ago with a 3 peice dash.

I'm not aware of any embossed hood trim. Do you have pictures?
