Who here owns a first year 02: 66/67 1600-2 or 68 2002?

Yup! It was mostly 67 with an amended 12V system. I have the small roundel. It originally had the chrome dash and steering wheel. Those we replaced a few decades ago with a 3 peice dash.

I'm not aware of any embossed hood trim. Do you have pictures?

68 1600-2 #1560713 Originally purchased by grandfather in riverside, CA Chamonix/Black

Sounds like a very early 68 with 67 build date right? Do you have the small Roundel on the back next to the 1600 like a 67? Do you know if it had or still has the embossed hood trim in front? Does it have the chrome dash? The early 68's sometimes had a mash of 67/68 parts.

You can make out the trim in the first pic I posted above too but here is a close up.

My 1967 1600 is VIN 1521145

Originally Chamonix, but now it has a patina'd Verona finish. It's my DD (as much as one can be in the city).

As far as I could tell, I had the lowest 02 VIN at last year's V@V!

Man, I know Tom Jones would like your car from that pic! He has similar wheels on his 67 Granada car but it's in dire need of a repaint as he mentioned above.

68 1602 w/SR Turf VIN 1564726

PO swapped the original black/gold CA plates for the vanity plate TADPOL, kind of a bummer, but i'm keeping the vanity plate cuz it seems right.

it was given to me minus the engine/tranny and interior. i have subsequently sourced a perfect early chrome dash for it and other missing items. the original clutch and rear end were updated prior, as well.

not driveable at present...

Jerry, if you are in California, you can now re-assign black plates to your car up to like 72 or so (used to be 63). You just need a matching set of plates to bring into DMV, that are obviously not registered to another car. Check eBay and such, I've seen sets in the past for about $100 or less in decent condition.

1660900. Chamoix sunroof car--I found it abandoned in a field in North Dayton (OH) back about 1975-76--not much more than a body shell. I scrounged a few stray pieces off it that fit my '69, and got the VIN plate because I knew it was a real low number.

1664169, built 11/29/68, Manila, sold in Alhambra, CA in Jan or Feb `69 so it is a `69 model year but before the big changes were made. Has long neck diff, no headrests, no side markers, etc. Original owner died in `89 and it stayed in the garage until John C found it and I bought it in 2008. Motor just rebuilt and ready to install, a very original 2002 and I will keep it that way. In Huntington Beach CA.

I own a white 68 2002 made in March of that year. I purchased it in June while living in Berkeley Ca. I still have the car and had it totally restored by Matt McGuinn. It is showroom stock, a black plate car and I have all the original paperwork. I live in Sedgwick, Maine. The car will pass to my daughter who drove it for a summer when she was 16 and never forgot the experience.

1968 2002 original color Granada, now painted Bristol/Granada!

Are the 67 vin plates marked with the year of manufacture like my 1968?

9825b4e4.jpg

No, I guess pre-68 there was no full-year stamp like that. Probably because the true "US spec" cars did not come until 68. Pre-68's only had a MPH speedo to differentiate them from the Euro versions. Everything else was the same as Euro, even the stickers were all in German.
