Gas Cap question

Okay,

They say that the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked. So here I go.... I just purchased a new OEM gas cap and check out the photo. Doesn't the angle of the stamped logo seem out of whack? I don't have my car to reference right now, but should the logo be more aligned w/ the "handle"? Or are all the caps this way?

my orig. locking cap has the roundel aligned with the handle. Looks like the one you got was not set right in the stamping machine.

Both the OE caps (non-locking) on my ' 75 and my wife's '76 have the Roundel lined up with the raised handle and they are much closer to the handle than yours. I wonder if yours was made in Thailand, or some such place. Something about that Roundel looks a little phony. Ours do not have those loops on the ends of the lines used to indicate the blue area of the roundel.

In 02Les' picture notice the difference in the letters from the one in the first post. Mine look just like 02Les', not the outline type letters in nomalt's example.

I don't think yours is original BMW, nomalt.
