Stainless Steel Headers from eBay

Nick, I'm sure as an engineer you know the benefits of running an equal length header, of which I know of only one on the market.

certainly not bashing anyone who makes things for our cars especially when they're nice. It's just that a nice guy doesn't = best header.

polished = china, that's why no one is buying them.

Andrey, if you look enough you'll see a lot of good things come out of CHINA, to discount them that way just shows ignorance. As long as there is sufficient oversight on the item being produced there then there is not much problem.

What does get to be a problem is when a PERSON (not a country) decides he wants to try and make as much money as possible and cuts corners in places that he shouldn't. Uses usually thinner gauge steel (the steel itself might be high quality, just very little of it.) and sells on ebay with little chance of reprocutions when things go wrong.

Repercussions ;-)

It's just a matter of proper QC at the manufacturing stage. Sometimes more easily said than done!

That said, very few M10 headers will net a performance gain. Best bet may still be a tii exhaust manifold.

And the ebay seller doesn't know his product, suggesting it will work with a stock cat.

As you were!

Cheers,

Ray

Stop reading this! Don't you have anything better to do?? :P
Two running things. Two broken things.

That's my engine bay in the photo, from when I was doing my motor swap. I have the proto-type header & been using it since then (2008). Fits perfectly and is also very nicely made. Works well with my set-up.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm currently running these (found them brand new local for a smokin deal from somebody who's was selling his ride) with the IE down pipe and have had zero problems so far. I have thought about possibly switching them out for something else to see if there is a noticeable performance increase for my street machine. The car currently runs super strong but you can always have a little more power.

I see a lot of chinese-made stuff in my industry so I have some background for my concern, trust me it's anything but ignorance.

When car parts (or most any other mechanical bits) get made there, the process is often something like:

1) get a "sample" that's decently to very-well made to impress the customer

2) order a run of them

3) receive complete junk: made elsewhere in china, probably some guy's back yard, poorer materials, welded badly, etc etc

...and always polished, that's the quick way to tell with car parts.

I'm glad that you got OK parts but my advice to people is to stay away. There are plenty of non-chinese made parts for these cars so why risk receiving step 3 above? Also, why even buy something like an exhaust manifold from them when there are cheaper or at least similarly-priced parts made in the US?

Finally, what's this specific part going to do that a stock exhaust manifold won't, aside from letting more heat escape due to the use of steel in place of cast iron? I'm sure it looks cool (if you can see it under your 320i exhaust heat shield) but I doubt that it does much for you.
