Talking of batteries..........

Somebody must have been.

The pic is of a battery I bought in the UK (from BMW?) a couple of years before I shipped the Touring to the US in 2000.

It's still going! Maybe not the strongest, so I relegated it to one of my project cars, but it holds a charge to start the car ok after standing a week or so.

Any road up; anyone know if this battery (or real close Bosch equivalent) is available in the US?

Les,

The bosch number on that battery converts to the same battery that is in the BMW Z3 1.9 (97>>)

Does that help?

yes = BMW battery 61.21.7.567.181

50AH is for 1500 - 2000CS - 1602 - 2002 battery

as pictured above - fits up front, or anywhere else.

EXIDE (Battery No. 10046-063W) is the supplier to BMW

at last check - this battery was still ticking after 8+ years use

I stand behind the performance of both Optima Redtops and WestCo 12V31M batteries.

I left the Optima in a stored car with no charger on it for a year and it started right up. I switched to the WestCo when I got an 02 Again underseat battery mount. I abuse the crap out of it and it keeps going.

I wonder if there's any correlation to my '99 MZ3 Coupe batter lasting for over 9 years.
