Introducing Number 02

If you follow the Cars forum, you may recognize this as the one Steve (user @steven) snagged on eBay. I picked it up from him last month and have been ripping out the musty carpet.

Finished that job and plan to make a trip to the yard to search for suitable front seats. Then it's new brakes and a hefty tune-up. Then it should be road-ready... on a clear day.

Still working on a name for her/him. With the chrome fender clips and 50's Rambler roof rack, I feel it should be a beachy/surfy one.

Yes, it's an automatic. And I do plan to keep it that way. This one will be my toy to play with (and, above all, drive) while the 1600 will enjoy a full overhaul.

Just curious, is the chrome wheel well molding permanently affixed or can it be removed easily...?

Dang, haven't seen those chrome fender trims on an 02 in 20 years...they were much more popular on Yuppiemobiles (320's, CS coupes and early 5ers)

@mike: My name is Andy and my girlfriend's name is Andi. We have good friends named Andy and Rhonda. Might make her feel less left out if we were all to pile into the car...

A friend recommended I name it Spicoli (ref: "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"). Spicoli and Magdalene; not a bad pair of names!

@02for2: I'll get around to taking more pics eventually. I need to get the brakes sorted and some new front seats. Then I can at least pull it out of the garage!

We know a married couple who are both named Robin. I am sure they suffer due to the jokesters at any gtg they attend. Do the 'funny guys' bug you about the Andy/Andi thing??

@Jim_75Sahara People always do a double take and we laugh it off. Crazy thing is... her sister/sister's husband are named Jessi/Jesse.

@adawil2002 Not bad. Lumpy would work for the bent metal around the trunk area as well. I kinda like the ring of Spicoli, though!
