While browsing thru some BMW pictures on Bing, I spotted these three. First one many of us have seen in print ads (Roundel, etc).

I don't think I've seen this one before ;-)

This one may label us as aggressive drivers..

Unfortunately I was a checkbook mechanic during that time, Jim.

I did buy the car as a shell, tho. Carl Nelson's shop did the initial mechanical work and Coupeking did the aesthetics.

The current 2.5 was built by Andy at Bullet in Costa Mesa.

Nick's site has a bit more info, most of it correct :)

You 'mericans.

Coupe' (French origin) is what the '02 was called in Europe.

It denotes a closed in car with fixed roof believe it or not.

A bit like what you call football and what the rest of us call football.

Got your email Ray showing the seats........waaay nice.

I need to save some money.

2002 Coupe'?

Heheh.

Cheers,

Ray

Silly French!

Ok Les, why are French fries called pommes frites on French menus? ;-)

Jim, I scored a '76 with a blown motor and re-done interior with OE optioned Scheels. Pic attached.

Ray

Don't know Ray. I've always tried to stay clear of France.

They're called chips in the UK.

5 seater? That may be a bit of a stretch. I tried it for a drive to a friends house that is in my neighborhood, neither the car nor the passengers was too pleased.

It was designed ~45 years ago before MacDonalds got a franchise over in Europe.

We did 5 people in the car, and a trunk load of stuff and luggage, and two snow tires on the roofrack on a dinner run during one of the Alpine Rallies. The car bottomed out exiting the driveway, but we did it. Slowly.

At least we didn't have to walk back up the hill in the cold Tahoe night air.

(Sorry norm.)
