Last WWI doughboy passes away

I remember talking with one of the few alert and oriented WWI vets at our local VA center years ago. (there were quite a few there, but they were bedridden and confused for the most part) Anyway, Roscoe drove teams of horses that moved the artillery and ammunition. He took great pride in training them. He was affectionate & gentle with his horses. It was poignant when he got sad & said with tears in his eyes: "I'd get a good team together and the Germans would shell us & kill my team of horses....." It was so sad; he was in that moment in WWI. Salute to a departed soldier & dedicated horse lover.
