scratches on the windshield

so my wife calls me on the verge of depression this morning. she couldn't find the ice scraper to scrape the windshield yesterday morning and ended up hurriedly using a travel coffee mug instead. well, i haven't seen the windshield, but it sounds like superficial scratches one gets with old wipers on dry glass. i've seen it most often on the back of suvs.

so, does anyone have any techniques to restore the glass without replacing it? it's '91 4runner with 250k miles and original glass. she's very attached to the truck. hoping some of you guys have had experience with this. i'll try to get a picture tonight when she gets home.

thanks tim. looked like that was some turtle wax polishing compound, which i already have. nice. i'll give it a shot.

They should come out Matt; sounds like they are light scratches. For the longest time, there was a container of Colonite glass wax in my folks' garage, mentioned using it on light scratches as well.

called collinite. they don't have anything for glass now. didn't say they ever did though either.

Must have been Turtle Wax then; thought for sure the label was collinite, definitely a jar of super doublecoat wax in the garage.
