Info needed on a hi/low beam & turn signal switch for a

I have a 74 tii. I need the part number of the correct switch on the column (left side) which controls hi/low beams and turn signals. TIA.

Only the wash/wipe switch was different on squarelights--later ones have the delay position on wiper speed.

I already checked! Realoem shows three different p/a numbers hence the confusion (first is a dip switch)

Problem is that I can't read any numbers on the switch unless I remove it.

I see what you mean, Al. I checked both bmwfans.info and RealOEM.com for my '75, which should be the same for your '74, and it shows three different P/Ns for the switch. someone more knowledgable than I will have to chime in.

Might try calling Carl Nelson, at LaJolla Independent, and see if he can help you out with the correct P/N. 858/488-1555. Jeff, at LaJolla Indep. may also know the answer. He drives a '75.

The parts book shows:

61 31 1 356 609 for USA 02 and tii model 74 and on.

61 31 1 357 000 for Euro models (not tii) 74 and on

61 31 1 352 949 for most Euro & all USA models up to 73

61 31 1 353 632 and 61 31 1 357 458 are the two listed for France & Italy. They are probably wired for the Countries needs - ie Reverse quickly for France (& maybe Italy?) and also to the horn for Italy. hehe.

61 31 1 357 000 is for Euro, and as you say, probably for the side/parking light feature. Not sure why it’s not noted for the 74 & up tii though.

61 31 8 648 007 I believe is the early one up to modell 71.

The additional wiring/features on the 61 31 1 357 000 probably explains why it sells for $95.76 ( at one BMW Dealership) while the 61 31 1 356 609 units sells for $73.44.
