Another (probably same old) fuel level guage question

OK, pardon me because I know this has been asked a bunch. I did a search function on "fuel AND level", but still didn't get enough info.

So here is my problem. Fuel guage always shows empty. I have tried 2 different new fuel level sender units that I know are in good working condition, but still pegged at empty. (Yes I have fuel in the tank. At least 2 gallons, but no more).

I switched the leads on the unit and the guage showed full on both sending units. I suppose I have a grounding problem? Do I look behind the instrument cluster now? Is the cluster difficult to remove?

Removal of the cluster is easy. Just search the FAQ for "cluster and removal" and I bet something useful pops up. Then search for "cluster and secondary and ground". Adding one of these ended my fuel gauge issues.

Mine looks very similar to that. The loose end is screwed in behind the cluster onto a spot that's been cleared of paint.
