It's all about the square tails, but I'm a wee biased :P Roundies are nice but I'd feel bad about driving a roundie like I drive my square tail. Mods, I would say some work and some dont. My car is a fair example. I have a reason for all my mods and it's not over the top. But some would think it crazy to mod a 72k original car...

I've owned both and prefer the weight and overall feeling the square tails have. BUT, If I were ever to get a 02 for a stock restoration it would have to be a roundie. They just look classier than the square tail.

I expect the votes to fall pretty much along party lines.

If you polled a bunch of engineers, they'd pretty much vote square... progress has seen to it that the squares are empirically better cars.

Those who are Purists and/or voting from the heart will side with the Roundies.

End of the day... it's all moot - they're both GREAT cars!

Cheers!

REAL BMWs HAVE ROUND TAIL LIGHTS. With the exception of the square lighted ones with serial numbers that start with 429----. I know I'm a snob, but my roundie has been with me so long we are both "PREYUPY"

I'm a no voter too; I like both.

I believe if the square light cars had arrived in the US with the chrome bumpers (& no rear over-riders) there would be no contest.
