If you polled a bunch of engineers, they'd pretty much vote square... progress has seen to it that the squares are empirically better cars.

End of the day... it's all moot - they're both GREAT cars!

Cheers!

I'm an Engineer and like both designs. The Square light cars do have those extra reinforcement plates in the trunk that double as cubbies to hold the jack and bottles of oil.

if time and $$ ever permit me to build a 2nd '02 to use as a daily driver, it'll undoubtedly be a square light / euro bumper car with multiple upgrades (aftermarket a/c, 5 speed, M20 or M42 engine swap, etc, etc).

I'M THE GUY......

who while my '72 tii was in getting an electric sunroof transplant (from the aftermarket moonroof installed by the previous owner), I had the back panel replaced so I could install square lights...

Dead Milkmen, Stuart.

Regarding the tail light debate. All '02s are good. Always thought it was strange that BMW changed the tail lights to round for the 1600-2 door new class models. I'm a roundie, specifically '73, which I feel is the finest year of the '02.
