Need advice on wheel size for 68 1600

Hello from a newbie:

Have just bought myself a restored 68 1600 with ex IMSA motor. Car currently has stock 13x4,5 steel wheels with wheel covers.

I am going to purchase Minilites from England in 13 inch diameter, but am not certain if I should go 5, 5.5, or 6 inch width.

I plan on using 185/70 rubber.

Seeking any advice on any aspect of this decision. Of concern to me is clearance, whether anything over 5 inch will require adjustment of caster/camber or alignment or will cause excessive wear on wheel bearings. Any comments on issues I haven't thought of are encouraged.

Thanks.

Chris

depends what size tire you intend to use

the new wave here is for tubby tires with little thought about correct rim with to support them properly

if your going with 205/60x13, then 6" wide rim

if 185/70x13", then 5.5" wide rim will work

and an offset of 29 to 33 for both

you say 'an IMSA' motor ? how much horse power?

that has a bearing on 'correct' tire size

Great advice.

What is the offset of the stock steel 13x 4.5 wheels?
