alternative to la jolla 2002 ? ,(problems) now its a Maybe

looks like theres rust at hood and rocker panel

dash crack and seeping oil seals and water pump

the seats need stuffing and drive shaft needs center support

thats the verbal inspection

Im going to look for my self tomarrow

Minor and fixable. Won't take deep pockets to correct. None of that would be a deal breaker for me. A 'perfect' 2002 is what you make it, I doubt anyone has ever found an 02 that hasn't needed something. Even new these were tinkerers cars, no two are alike.

You've written you want to restore it, if what La Jolla found is the worst of it, you have found the 'perfect' candidate. Buy it, fix it, drive it, enjoy it.

Like Andrew says, none of them are perfect. You are going to have to fix somethig even on a fully restored car.

If you make out to San Diego, check with Bill Holmes, he is the resident San Diego area guru when it comes to 02's. He can dial in a tii better than anyone I know. His shop is near Ramona, east of Poway. Carl at La Jolla Independent can tell you how to get to his shop.
