Outboard motor help...

does anyone know of a good forum for Evinrude/Johnson outboards? Or know about the smaller versions

I have a '73 9.5 hp Evinrude that keeps jumping out of gear when under load. It's probably an easy fix--like some kind of tensioner for the linkage-- but I haven't messed with outboards since I was a kid in Ft Lauderdale (mumble, mumble) years ago.

Any suggestions?

I can't help with a forum recommendation . . . . but your post reminded me I have this ol' outboard in the garage, awaiting restoration.

I haven't messed with outboards since i was a kid in south florida (mumble, mumble) years ago either....

i could take apart and put back together my 4hp evinrude on the back of my sailboat in my sleep. but can't seem to remember those procedures anymore.

i may still have shop manual for those engines at home. will try to look tonight.

my garage a 1939 ELTO Cub--8 lbs, half horsepower. Smallest gas outboard ever built and reallly cute. Runs too if I hook up a coil and battery to it. The magneto coil has an internal short somewhere and won't generate any spark.
