Thumbs up from a real muscle car guy!

I was in my e30 taking Anna out for ice cream. I got up next to this guy in traffic and I was going to give him a thumbs up and he yells over how nice my e30 is.

I'm sure I would loose big time in a drag race.

Note the license plate.

Oooh! Hemi!

I was a Mopar nut in a previous life. I still want a '69 RoadRunner 440 4sp.

Cheers,

Ray - doesn't the term "Max Wedge" refer to a 440ci engine (not 426 "hemi")?

Here's a decent rundown of what is a Max Wedge. Hard to read because of the background but the info is good.

This is my favorite part.

Horsepower for the Max Wedges are as follows:

1962 413 11.0:1 compression ratio: 410 h.p.© maxwedge.com

1962 413 13.5:1 compression ratio: 420 h.p.© maxwedge.com

1963 426 11.0:1 compression ratio: 415 h.p.© maxwedge.com

1963 426 13.5:1 compression ratio: 425 h.p.© maxwedge.com

1964 426 11.0:1 compression ratio: 415 h.p.© maxwedge.com

1964 426 12.5:1 compression ratio: 425 h.p.© maxwedge.com

I believe those old HP figures are at the flywheel without any accessories. This was before the standard HP figures were settled on.

That motor was the scalding answer to the 409, and the forerunner to the 426 Hemi. Dual 4bbls with (IIRC) 13" long runners in its cross flow intake manifold.. mmmmmm love me some early Mopar action.

Jason - I know where there is a really nice Plum-crazy MoPar (may be a '68 Road Runner). ;-)

Sure - I know most of us are dreaming of owning a nice American muscle machine.

Here are some blasts from my past... The girl in the pics is now 17. (where did the time go...)

Appearing in order of ownership:

1966 Satellite 383 Auto

1965 Barracuda Formula S 273/Factory Hurst shifted 4 speed.

1969 Valiant Slant 6 base model turned 340/4 speed, big brakes and suspension upgrades for road racing. These pics were a joke because the wheels wouldn't fit int he wheel wells. They were for my friends 65 Dodge.

And a 73 Scamp 318 parts car that I campaigned one night at the drag strip as the #13, the Tattooed Tit (name that tune), before stripping it the next day.

Ahh I remember the Scamp.

My dad had a brand new '68 Dart (new larger body) that was yellow with a black stripe down the beltline. I think it had a 318ci engine. My sister and I loved to ride in that car. A taxi driver sideswiped it in D.C. - it was fixed but later sold.

Yep I believe that's right. And I think I knew it when I typed what I did.

I just wanted to type "Hemi!"
