1600 Rear Brake Retaining Clip/Spring

Just had a bad trip with my '70 1600 this afternoon. About 5 mikes from home, the left rear retaining clip for the brake shoes broke, the shoes came loose & had some burning brakes by the time I got home. The question I have is: Does anyone know where I can find the clips for a 1600? I am pretty sure the diameter of the rear brakes on the 1600 is 1 inch smaller than the 2002. I had a hard time about 15 years ago finding the right shoes for the 1600 but eventually did through a local NAPA store. I was not able to replace the clips so I had to use the old ones & it finally caught up with me. Any information would be a great help!

hey! over in THE GLEN!

Last week I was visiting my family to the west from you in Wayne.

Normally I'd say see your local BMW Dealer but they aint

in the Keuka / Seneca neighborhood

so contact member BLUNT here on this board - no worries

not too many 02's in that the area

I just might buy a retirement home on BLUFF POINT / Penn Yan

in the near future?

a few hills from THE GLEN

I will try contacting the member BLUNT! Thanks for the Info. I was just in Penn Yan in the Wife's X5 Friday night. If you are back in the area (Penn Yan) try a place called Lloyd's Limited, an English style Pub, not too bad but no good German beers. Wayne is only ablut 15 miles from WG and a nice drive through some of the hills. You are dead on with the fact that there are NO 02's in the area. I bring the 1600 to the Grand Prix Festival every year & I am usually only one of a handful (sometimes the only) of BMW's at the festival. For any fans of Vintage racing, the Festival is usually the 1st or 2nd weekend of September & is a great time, give a shout if you are in the area for it. And if anyone has any ideas on that clip/spring, please let me know.

Thanks,

Joe
