Is it legit? 1970 2002

Is this a real 2002? the grill ooks like its from a 1600 is this normal or did this guy turn a 1600 into a 2002? Does it seem like a good deal?

When I first bought my 1600 in 2003 I didn't know that there was a 1600. The guy I bought it from told me it was a 1969 2002. Over the years, I have definitely learned the difference and have converted all of the 1600 parts over to 2002 parts or 320i parts.

1600's have longneck diffs, that should be a good place to start to look if it is a 1600 or a 2002.

Wouldn't the VIN tag reveal the answer? Have him take a pic of that.

I'm always skeptical of a seller who takes photos of an object in the shade when the photo set clearly demonstrates that there was more than ample sunlight if the object were simply moved a few feet. I would certainly request a set of photos (with date and time stamps) showing the front of the car in sunlight.
