Well I own a 2003 Mustang. It keeps dying on me and my mechanic told me its the fuel pump. I kind of believe him but I don't have experience with him. When you turn the key you can hear the pump running. If the car sits overnight I can drive it for about 2 hours w/out problems. Then it gets a horrible idle, shakes the whole car and just dies. Then I try to start it again and it cranks, starts for like 1 second and dies. The mechanic I went to said the filter is clean and the pump is not holding pressure and it drops to 3psi and it will cost $500 to fix, $300 for labor $200 for the pump. Also, this has never happened since ive owned it since January of this year. Idk if its ever been replaced. Also it started happening 2 days ago when I filled my gas tank up ALL the way. Could that be a problem?

Fuel pump sounds very plausible. Sounds like it's not to hard. (Part way down in this link)
