And if you're not local to the car but are serious about purchase, you might looking into paying for an independent mechanic/BMW 2002 FAQ member to go check out the car for an inspection (looking for some of the issues that were pointed out by members in the previous thread).

Notice the carefully worded phrase "The paint appears to be all original, if it’s not it sure looks like it." That's like saying it's not original paint. If the seller has any ability to evaluate the car, in a few minutes they can determine if it is original paint or not. That statement alone would convince me not to trust the description.
