2002 Ti Repro

If I wanted to equip my car like a Ti, would I just have to buy the carbs, and intake from a Newclass or 2.0 CS, or are there other things I need to convert on a 72' 2002? Will Weber carbs match up with the intake and air cleaner?

Seems like a fun way to build up an O2 while maintaining some factory heritage.

The Euro Ti's have other pistons called "bath tub" pistons with high compression.

I think the 40 Weber carbs will fit the intake and aircleaner from a 2000cs.

There are many threads about this, but I will try and answer as best I can.

tis are more like tiis since the tii was based on the ti.

Parts on the ti thats the same as the tii:

front struts, spindles, brake rotors, calipers, brake booster,brake master cylinder,rear wheel cylinders, mechanical distributor, steering wheel, no snorkel, exhaust manifold,boxed trailing arms, lowered battery tray, 4-blade fan.

Parts that were unique to tis:

9.3:1 CR bath tub pistons, two Solex phh 40 carbs, 220kph speedometer, interior clock different from tii, heater bypass pipe, 5" steel wheels, airbox(not the same as NK), 121ti cylinder head(although its the same as late 121 heads), two intake manifolds(same as NK), grill badge.

Optional extras:

Close Ratio steering box, close ratio dog-leg 5 speed gearbox, limited-slip differential, tropical radiator, 300' or 324' cams, scheel or recaro buckets, sunroof, inflatable windscreen

Yes, weber carbs fit on the ti manifolds and plenums.

Thats all I can think of right now.

Are you sure about this? Piano top pistons will not fit the 121ti head...must be the bath tub ones.

I may be wrong on this one....not sure of the US spec.

Oh, and there were no US spec ti's. All ti's were the same spec everywhere.

Lol, its hard to read sarcasm in a post, but just in case that was not sarcastic...

Only early 121 tii's had 10:1 pistons, with the e12 head that became 9.5:1 iirc. Ti's were 9.3:1, but I am looking for 10:1 bathtubs for my ti.

if you really want to make it period correct, you'll have to get an earlier body. 72 model year has 12 fuses. ti's are only 6-fuse bodies originally with the resulting associated interior differences, too.

also, the acticle posted by CD is not technically correct - the ti was never imported to the US, BUT it most certainly was imported to CANADA. (which is still part of North America...last time I checked...)
