Wanted: 1976 Speedo w. 3.9 gears

Hello,

My 02 has an early speedometer on it and its not for the correct gear ratio, so its in need of replacement. I dont really need the rest of the gauges/cluster.

Looking for one that is in good shape and fully functional.

I have a speedo from a 76 but I'm not sure how to double check the diff ratio.

Just something to consider, you could most likely find a 3.64 diff to replace your 3.90 for less cost than reworking or replacing the speedo with a known good one and drop your rpm on the freeway .

I haven't seen any 3.64 diffs for $20 shipped, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough. Plus the installation time seems to be a little different.

Those are both valid points.

My dillemma is as follows:

My car has an incorrect speedometer regarding its aesthetics and its mileage.

It only has 4 speeds.

Id like to have the correct style Speedometer and lower RPM's on the highway...

I am capable of a differential swap in a single evening.

any thoughts?

All 49-States '76s came with 3.90/3.91 diffs. The speedo in my wife's '76 has a noticable overlay around the perimeter to compensate for the different diff from the '75s. It's moved the 12 o'clock reading on the speedo from 63 mph on the '75 to 59 mph on the '76s.

Still in need of a replacement! First attempt didn't work out well, that one wasn't working properly.

For a 4 speed manual, in case that matters.
