I just picked up a E30 today and am stoked, so I thought I might share. its a 85 318I and I got it for 660. Straight body and only 107k on it. It does need a little help cosmetically but the engine was strong and I felt the price was right.

E30's are awesome, I think there is a fair number of people on here who own/have owned them. I've had 3 myself, unfortunately all parts cars. Had I known what direction my turb02 was going to go when I picked it up(originally NA stripped autox/track car) I would have bought an E30 instead.

Dammmmm. For that price, I'd have bought it too. In Ohio, the seller would have wanted too much. Totally FUBAR E30's are listed for real $ here. Idiotic.

E30's are special to a lot of '02 owners. (incl. me)

eta E30 as a winter car for the past ten years to save my 02 from Ohio road salt; just bought a really nice 91 318is--it really is an E30 2002...AKA "poor man's E30 M3." With some serious rustproofing (the 87 taught me where E30s rust) it should be good for many years' use.

BTW you got a good deal on your 318.

cheers

Congratulations, and great find! I originally went looking for an E30 for my daily driver (even had the missus sold on the idea) when I found my current 2002. I would still love to have one, especially if I could find as good of a deal as you did!

Congrats! Looks like you got a great deal.

I just recently bought an '87 325eA myself for $1300. It's the fourth E30 we've owned. They are very reliable cars if you keep up with their regular maintenance items.

I was shopping for a 318 for my son. M10 motor, E30 body- bulletproof...and able to be worked on without a mega-computer. Sadly, we didn't find any manual transmission cars at a decent price.

He ended up with an '83 320iS. The whole family loves it. Now I can threaten to take it away if he is bad. Would it be wrong to 'frame' him for a bad deed, just so I could go bombing around in his car?

Those 320i's are practically bulletproof.

Did you see the stickers John made about E21s being friends and not food? Being on the subject, I just picked up an E21 as food for my 2002 and my E21. It was rusty and too far gone to be repaired. But it runs and drives.

Even some E30s have to become food so that other E30s live on. Even my tii has E30 sport seats.
