Hello everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this 71 2002. Looks like a nice example of the round tail classic. I'm actually trying to find one for my dad hopefully after the holidays I can make some time to physically check them out.

Hopefully someone has some insight on this particular 2002.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I first saw this car 5 or 6 years ago, when I was a freshman in high school. The owner was a senior in high school at that time, and I remember oogling it after school whenever I could. A year later I bought my car which happened to look very similar to this car. If I had money I'd be buying this one!!

Looks very nice with some desirable upgrades. Definitely a premium price, but those upgrades should merit it assuming the ad is accurate. I know nobody seems to want to admit it here, but colors like that definitely add value over the "blah" shades like my Sahara (I'm going to go drive my '02 vigorously this afternoon to apologize for that comment).

Only thing I'd note is that the front fender reflectors are missing, which is usually indicative of fender replacement. Definitely common and probably not a deal breaker, but worth asking about anyway... wreck? Rusted out and replaced? Or just shaved for a cleaner look?

Craigslist ads last about a week. If you want to sell the car, post the entire ad, not just the link. Additional photos will help too!

For sale is my 1971 Riviera Blue BMW 2002 in great shape. I have owned the car for 6 years in Southern California and used it as a daily driver. Garage kept. Previous owner restored the car. I have put about 30k miles (mostly highway miles) since I have owned it. Car has many upgrades and is a blast to drive. Only selling because it no longer fits my needs as a daily driver and I am not driving it much. Runs and drives great.

Engine:

-Rebuilt ITB race engine (43k miles since rebuild)

-32/26 Weber downdraft carb with new air filter

-5-speed transmission (gets about 30mpg on the highway)

-Close-ratio-steering box (rare item)

-Electronic Ignition

-45 amp alternator

-Tii exhaust header

-Ansa exhaust

-Engine just tuned up with new spark plugs and points and all fluids changed

-320i radiator

Brakes:

- Upgraded brakes: Front: 528 front brake calipers with brand new pads. Rear: 320i rear brake drums

-Tii master cylinder

-Adjustable camber plates

-Ireland Engineering strut brace

-Just had the brakes bled

-Recent E-brake service

Suspension:

-Upgraded Bilstein coils and shocks

Exterior:

-99% rust free (small amount of rust in spare tire well, typical of 2002s, and a small surface spot below the right font windshield)

-14" BBS style wheels

-Halogen headlights

-Euro turn signal lights (flush with body instead of bubble like US turn signal lights...looks much better)

-Paint is in good condition with a few nicks and small scratches (it is a daily driver after all. Car has never been in an accident)

-Spare tire has never been used

Interior:

-Black Recaro front seats

-Upgraded shoulder harness seatbelts in front seats

-Wooden Momo Steering Wheel

-Tii analog clock

-Original rear seats in perfect condition

-Black interior carpet set in decent condition

-Custom speaker boxes (4 speakers, no cuts in door panels) and radio with tape player

*Comes with additional spare parts including hoses, original door panels (no holes), old center console, and various other misc. items

Known Problems:

1. Small, very slow oil leak. Never had an issue with it.

2. Rear right chrome bumper has small dent in it (bumped by someone in a parking lot. . .they didn't leave a note) Car has never been in an accident.

3. Small tear of the interior headliner on the rear passenger side. Hardly noticeable

4. Both Recaro seats have the stitching coming apart about 2 inches on outer shoulder seam of each seat. Easily fixable if taken to an upholstery shop.

5. Previously mentioned minimal rust spots in the spare tire well and below the right front windshield.

6. Needs a new front kidney grill. I have the original grill but the bracket recently broke. These cost $71 brand new on bavauto.com.

7. 2 small dash cracks

Located in Manhattan Beach. Email me with any questions or to check out the car in person if seriously interested. No tire kickers please. Will not ship. Thanks!

Craigslist ads last about a week. If you want to seel the car, post the entire ad, not just the link.

But oh, self-appointed keeper of the FAQ Cars For Sale section....

...if you read the original post, it's apparent it was not by the seller (so perhaps save your teaching's for the proper individual). -KB

You again? Sheesh!

Well, I wasn't necessarily addressing the OP, but I guess I could be clearer - "To anyone who posts a craigslist link, please post the ad instead."

And if someone doesn't post the ad while the link works, this thread and everyone's posted comments become worthless.

Think about it.

I knew this car and a previous owner when it lived up in the San Francisco Bay Area. A very nice car then and if maintained well it is a very good buy for that money.

If you'd like I could dig up some photos.

Yes!

I LOVE this car. When I was starting my search a few years ago, 2002AD still had it for sale, but I couldn't spend the money.
