Yeah, those two screws on the bottom of my console probably should not be there either ;-)...

Fits any early roundie with the round shift boot. Plastic trans hump piece makes it a later unit. Correct; holes should not be there. The vinyl around the ashtray shrinks, you can paint the wood with gloss touch up paint, tighten the screws, or use slightly larger ones if they are stripped (they usually are) clean, clean, clean, and perhaps score $50 in the FS section.

I have the identical short console in my '71 1600. however I think the 1600's used the "Early" parts for a longer duration. For example the same car has Silver dollar Gauges too. I'm guessing that if the one you have came from an 02 it was 71 or prior

Maybe a little offtopic but I'm trying to get my 02" as close to original as possible.

Mine is november 1970 i suppose it should have that same console and also the silver instrument panel with chrome rims right?
