How to remove rear side illumination bulb?

Dumb question of the day.... How does the 4W 2CP bulb come out of the rear side "reflector"? I assume its just a regular 2 pin light bulb - 1/4 turn left and then pull out. But mine will not budge by hand, do not have a spare to play with, and I would hate to break it off in the socket out of ignorance.

You need to push the bulb IN slightly before trying to turn it that 1/4 counterclockwise turn. I've also seen the plastic bulb socket get slightly melted on some cars and that can make the bulbs hard to remove. Good luck.

corrosion on the bulb base and socket, which I think is metal, not plastic...

Then press in and turn.

Mike is correct (as usual) that the sockets are metal on the side marker lights. I was thinking about the plastic tail light sockets being plastic and sometimes melted.

hooray!

rust and oxidation never sleeps

invest in a spray can of electrical contact ol

or anti-oxidation and begin to remove every bulb

in the car, clean the sockets, and then treat the poor beast

to new bulbs, AND FUSES. best to disconnect the battery while doing so.

Repeat procedure with every harness plug connector and

all ground wire connections - clean away all oxidation so the

metal pins and sockets have clean metal to metal contac with

a sprits of Contact ol to prevent future oxidation.

use this instead of the WD-40

Great advice, thanks, and I am now motivated but these two products are not for sale in California 8( Most of the others on the net (CRC, Loctite, Permatex) seem to not be oxidation removers; more like grease, oil and flux removers. Does someone know of a anti-oxidant that is 50 state legal?
