they'll work with an E12 head, 'cause that's what I currently have in my '73.

look at the top of the piston. if the raised part looks like a baby grand piano, that is the E12 head piston. the very early tii had an oval shape, one side of the oval is larger than the other. those are 121ti head

combuston chamber is the same on all E12 heads, Tii or not. as a matter of fact, each head of its own prefix has the same combustion chambers thru the years, no matter the flavour of the car.

121 heads=all the same

e12=all the same

e21 2.0=...

yah, but tii head/piston came in 2 different flavours. as one dumbass in kentucky found out years ago. it went like this:

me: hello, how can i help you?

da- i need a set of pistons, euro tii, half over for 73 tii

me-ok, can you verify the cyl head on the car? sometimes engines are switched

da-what head should be on there?

me-E12, but you should check, just to be sure

da-that is the head that is on there

me-ok, set of half over e12 euro tii, on the way

2 weeks later:

me: hello, how can i help you?

da-THESE PISTONS YOU SOLD ME HIT THE CYL HEAD

me-what cyl head is on the car?

da-121ti

me-well, you OWN those pistons. you told me it had an E12 head, and you will notice that i put on the invoice, "cust verified E12 head"

And then there's this 'custom' set of E12 pistons which were modified for the 121 chamber (bought 'em from a vintage racer who liked to bend the rules, apparently). More C/R with a 121 head, less C/R in the E12 head.

I'll have to check to see if the 121 chamber needs to be modified to run 'em.
