Happy adoption day!

37 years ago today I adopted a 1970 Navada 1602. The original owner was worried that at 40,000 miles it was going to start being a problem (he thought a TR6 would be more reliable!) after a lot of autocrosses and track days, being my daily driver for 14 years and over 300,000 miles we are still together. Time for a fresh set of tires, that CR gearbox that has been sitting on the shelf freshly rebuilt for a couple of years. I may even get the dry stumped injected engine done in the next couple of months and installed so we can play again when the weather gets nice.

We are going to go for a drive this evening just to celebrate.

Great story! Hey I bet the TR6 left him stranded a few times haha.

I'm no longer affiliated with Maximillian Importing Company in any way, please address any questions directly to them.  -Thanks.

Along the sane note, the original owner of my 71 had an ex-husband who drove a 57 bel air chevy and since their house only had a one car garage, the 02 was inside the garage while the chevy sat outdoors for many years. They divorced......not sure if because of the chevy, but irregardless.

Happy adoption, did you ever tell her she was adopted or did you keep it a secret?

too). It grows on you, especially when it's nice and shiny--like Ben's car. Stealthy too; ignored by the local gendarmerie, especially when there are Inka and Granada cars around ;-)

cheers

Mike,

I know you don't mean my inka! Mine is the stealthiest bright orange car you'll ever see :)

Here is a '71 Nevada 2002 I inspected about 1 month ago (VIN 1678583).

Per BMW, it was assembled on December 7, 1970. I was close to buying it, but there was too much rust for me to take on. I was going to name her "Pearl" in honor of Pearl Harbor Day. I made the owner an offer but think he will keep it. It leaks water really bad when it rains!

The passenger side footwell/rocker. This was the GOOD side!

Built Sept 16 1969, Nevada was a great color, I got away with so much in the 70's not only was it invisible to the cops I don't think the radar could see it either (I was a hooligan). It's not Nevada any more and it's not a 1600 either (1982 BMW Bronzit, 2 liter 172 hp at the wheels as of 3 weeks ago)

Thanks everyone
