Wiring diag and harness restoration

Is there a source for a higher resolution version of the '74Tii USA wiring diagram than what's on 2002Tii.org? The one there is low resolution and the decoder is not printable -- only can be viewed in the PDF bookmarks.

The Haynes that I just bought has atrocious print quality.

Also, I'd like to restore the harness in my engine bay. Is the wrapping made from cloth electrical tape? Is there a source for this?

Also, any sources for the original type open barrel connectors?

Happy New Year!!

Not looking for color and prefer the BMW version as on 2002Tii.org -- just want a higher resolution version of that one. That's an equivalent 11x17 diag as well (it's split into 2 pages).

Will look at hockey stick tape. Will a Sports authority or Big 5 carry it?

Thx!

I have used the friction tape and hockey tape. Both are good, The friction tape will leave a sticky residue on what it touches for awhile. Some dust the harness with a powder after it is wrapped. Not sure how that works though. The hockey tape is easy to work with and looks really good.

Before you start with your tape of choice, strip and clean the wires pretty good. Then put "wedding bands" around the harness every foot or so to keep the harness contained while you wrap.

e-mail me and I will send you what I have, not sure it is better than what you have but you are welcome to it.

My favourite tip (if you have the harness unwrapped) and you need to repair any wires that have been cut off short in the past is to splice a new section into the middle of the run where it will be covered up when rewrapped.

That way you don't need to buy a dozen different colours of wire to do the job properly. Just be sure to use wire at least as big as the one you are splicing to handle the current and solder each end properly before insulating by using heat shrink

Good info on restoring a wiring harness for a 74tii.

If you haven't browsed thru Keith Kreeger's website, now is the time to get familiar with it. Keith did an amazing job. The car turned out super nice! I had a chance to ride in and drive "Stella" a few years ago.

The "KEY" page is fuzzy but the diagrams are fairly clean.

You could print out the wiring KEY info at 2002tii.org if you do a screen grab and print that.
